The trip would be perfect if I had everyone I wanted to be there be there. However, I am absolutely determined to have the best adventure possible under the circumstances, Cookie.
While not a super-fan of oysters (smoked, raw, or otherwise) i feel this may need to visit my table. If it does, I'll let you know. And I'll blame you entirely.
Well, I was raised Catholic, so I'm excellent at absorbing blame. You could always swap out the oyster for an almond/cheese-stuffed date/prune and call it Devils on Horseback, get your hands on some water chestnuts and chicken liver to make Rumaki, or shrimp to make Crustaceans Who Feed off Waste Pipes and Their Own Babies Wrapped in Bacon.
Having spent a summer living in Venice in college with a limited amount of money to indulge, and then again with some spending money but only a few days during my honeymoon, a two week indulgence feels like a delight. These horse riding angels also sound heavenly.
Don’t send pictures of food. Send pictures of the lovely light and how it changes through the day in that magical place. Wishing you the best trip. I so need to get back there.
Preferably while sitting in St Mark’s or some other square, drinking something you like, and listening to the music of the place. Have a great time. I am jealous!
I'm looking forward to all kinds of reporting on your trip - though I figure there may be a few blank times in there. I know you'll have a wonderful time, smart man!
Lunch at Venissa on Mazzorbo. Trips to Torcello. A wander around Giudecca. Gatto Nero on Burano. Alle Testiere. Bar Puppa in Cannaregio for really inexpensive food and a fabulous owner, Masud. I have Venice and Giudecca guides on my Substack
Wishing you a fabulous trip, you have such an adventurous spirit, pics of the palazzo please! I'll be looking forward to whatever you find the time to share!
On another note, is there a coded reference to dentistry in every one of your posts? If so I must go back through your catalogue, filling in the blanks.
Wished I had known? One of my favorite Italian cities, although I have never felt compelled to drown myself in a canal. Email me if you want my latest on some not so well known delicious places to eat. I leave for Scotland on Friday.
Hi! Fortunately, I will have a multi-award-winning food writer staying with me the first week who will show me the ropes. And I am EXTREMELY lucky to be doing this.
Wow. Envious and can’t wait to read what happens in Venice. It’s one of my favorite cities which some EU snobs when I’ve mentioned this roll their eyes and say this: TOURISTS! Not to be confused with Terrorists I guess. 🤣
Summertime is my idea of a perfect film, and may your trip be your idea of a perfect adventure, cookie!

Yet I have the feeling two weeks would be nearly enough. And the horse riding angels are surprisingly good!.
If you do by chance fall into a canal, my doc...err... bartenders prescription was as much Grappa as you can afford. I lived so it must have worked.
Now does on apply the grappa directly to the eyeball or is there a better method?

Thank you, Amy. I might manage to remember to take a food photo or two but I will absolutely be on the lookout for the changing light.

I'll have time for lots of squares and lots of music. We've booked a Vivaldi concert AND a moveable opera.
Sorry I missed this!! What is a moveable opera? Or was that the gondola ride?? 😉
An opera that is performed from room to room in a creaky old palazzo. But we're not doing it anymore.
I'm looking forward to all kinds of reporting on your trip - though I figure there may be a few blank times in there. I know you'll have a wonderful time, smart man!
Thank you! I imagine my first couple days will be spend acclimating and absorbing, And eating. I'll be good to go after that!

Torcello will be eagerly yet respectfully mounted. Thank you for the tips!
Hahaha shall I warn it
AMAZING!! How lucky we are to have these experiences bar the security camera one of course
I'm about to be spoiled rotten.
Have a wonderful trip! Looking forward to reading about your adventures!
Looking forward to writing them!

Thank you, Shire! I will definitely share photos of the place with it's ridiculous dining room complete with seashell chandelier.
My favorite city. Incomparable in every way.
Harry’s Bar, you have died and gone to heaven. The island of Torcello, magical. St Mark’s and the Doge’s Palace, treasurehouses..
Buon Viaggio.
I will visit ALL of those places. I was just fantasizing about having lunch on Torcello this very afternoon...
So good! Can’t wait!

[Insert rim shot here] I just thought it was a good title for the post! No one can convince me otherwise.
Also: I have been slightly obsessing over sleeping arrangements because there is a specific room I want you to have.

Have a fantastic time in Scotland! (And I would definitely appreciate suggestions.)
On their way...will send on a text, unless you send me an email to sharmiro@nickelmoon.com
Ugh...your phone has fallen on my phone..send that email!
Lucky!!! Make sure to order some Sarde In Saor (sweet and sour sardines). The food is so good there if you know where to go. 😘❤️😘

Oh you are in for a treat then. Enjoy!!!!
I shall do my damnedest.

Do these EU snobs live in Tourist-free Zones?
No, that's the irony.
I thought as much!
Oh I can not WAIT to read about what you see here 💗
Thanks! Since I'll be soaking it all in without much in the way of a schedule, if you'd like to grab a drink at some point, please shoot me a message.
Have a blast, Michael! (And if you see any cheap Peggy Guggenheim reproduction bat wing sunglasses, pick me up a pair! 😂 )
You absolutely KNOW I'm gonna be looking for those. (And thank you!)
Love it! 🕶️🦇 Truly, have the best time!
